The app and the terminal agree — one pure function.

The ranker in app/src/core/rank.ts runs on the phone and in your terminal. Same plate, same ceiling, same two cards, deterministic across 1,000 runs.

Can I try it today?

Not from Google Play yet — the production release is pending review. The repo builds it (npx expo run:android), and npm run check -- rice_side 1 prints the same cards in a terminal, no device needed.

What does it cost?

Free: the Counter deck, 1 check a day. Any one deck, bought once: that deck plus 3 checks a day. Unlimited: every deck, no cap — with a 7-day free trial once the Play products are live.

Is anything mocked?

No demo flag, no mock mode, no seeded user data. Without a RevenueCat key every deck but Counter stays locked and the app says so.

Why no numbers about the food?

The brief asks for more satisfying meals without counting or restrictive plans. Lauk ranks by five sensory pillars, and a test fails if any of 22 listed words appears in the app's copy.

Does it need the internet?

The plate check doesn't: the ranker is pure TypeScript, offline, no backend, no account. Buying a deck goes through Google Play via RevenueCat.

Is there a demo video?

Not yet. Until it exists, the six screens above are from the signed release build, and the terminal run is reproducible from a fresh clone.
